Ben Javens strikes again

I blogged a little while about this Vetiver poster that I coveted, well I will covet no more, I'm the proud owner of edition 11/20, and it's a beaut. I'm waiting to frame it, but it's on the most delicious thick watercolour paper, it seems a shame to place it behind glass.

Further to a lovely email conversation with Ben, I was also pretty chuffed to find a screen-printed tote book bag inside my poster tube! It's all about the personal touches. 

I've also noticed a few updates to his blog, and spotted this chunky little people typeface, 'Alphabetty' which made me smile, I apologise if I've misused/abused your typeface, but I wanted to say a personal thanks. Thanks!

Welcome to Happy Lovers Town

The mayor of Happy Lovers Town is Jonathan Calugi and he's making sure the population is handsome and well turned out. Quite a tenous link, sorry. Jonathan is a graphic designer and he's got a plethora of gorgeous stuff over at his site, simple, bold and characterful. I can't pick a favourite, so enjoy the smorgasbord.

Table-oh!

It is also a beautiful table I was drawn to in Spitalfields Market's Elemental, bit of a hefty price tag attached to it, it contains antique letter press blocks set in resin. It is a beautiful and unique piece of typographic history, it's also in the SALE so if anyone has a spare £4k and a generous nature, please get in touch.

Caution HOT

This is very real and it was very painful, but this oven burn is also rather fetching in the form of an accidental exclamation mark.

Play with words

Books are beautiful, and always make great birthday gifts (23rd March incidentally), but I also love to see what else clever creative types can do with them.

I once made a model of a dog's face out of a book, it was a dog-eared book, get it? I have a photograph knocking about somewhere, I should dig it out...
