Latest painting commission

This homage is occupying my evenings of late. It's a painterly impression of the classic GNER Victorian poster. I've struggled with, for want of a better word copying, but I've added more depth to the landscape and decided to take the poster as a guide. It's getting there, more detail and time needed on the typography.

Egg box painting

Enno de Kroon describes it as 'eggcubism', it's an interesting technique and I'm sure it's harder to do than it looks. He's an artist based in the Netherlands, although I wouldn't be surprised if a few cash strapped English students adopted his style of canvas...

Painting process

It's been a while since I did some painting, but I was set Valentine's as a deadline. I really enjoyed the process, always hard to know when to stop, I think I prefer some of the work in progress images.

Paper cupcakes

Mmmm paper patisserie and cardboard confectionary served up by Patianne Stevenson.
Patianne is somewhat of a gourmand and has created these inspired pieces in her 'cardboard kitchen', the texture and colours are just beautiful, you can buy then over at her etsy shop.

Her food obsession also stretches to painting, so if you're feeling peckish, indulge here.

Plenty painty

I'm fairly smitten with the painterly talent of Olivier Tallac, I would love to see some of this animated it has such a vivacious quality, I was sucked into his website, hope you like it too.

Don't believe your eyes

First thoughts? Scale model? Photograph? Painting?
These incredible oil paintings may seem on the surface the homemaker idyll but all is not what it seems. Found via BOOOOOOOOM!

Dan Haskett

I stumbled upon Dan's work while researching earlier, he's got quite a lot of editorial experience under his belt, I recognise some of his magazine work, I recommend downloading his PDF of work in print, it looks great in situ.

Work in progress

It's been such a long time since I painted that I decided to paint for an hour as a challenge, I prefer the work in progress to the more finished piece, but thought I'd share. It's not the closest likeness, a little caricature, but has definitely given me the painting bug again.

Penelope Dullaghan

I'm a big fan of Penelope's work, and own a print of The Sweeping Print. Her work is narrative, delicate and soothing, take a look at her stuff, it spans editorial illustrations, painting, type and pattern.
