London Shop Fronts

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Now celebrates its first anniversary, a lovely collection of photographs by Emily Webber. Just goes to show, that personal obsessions and observations can lead into a surprisingly beautiful collection/project.

Happy miniature land

I've shared tilt shift images before but it makes me so happy, so here's the latest installment from Keith Loutit, from Sydney's Mardi Gras parade. Happy sunny Tuesday! Also check out his bath tub animation, look out for the falling fisherman, great spot Henry!

Red alert

The ginger gene is dying out. In 100 years there will be no more strawberry blondes, gingas, carrot tops, copper knobs, flamed haired beauties, no nothing!

I went along to the Idea Generation Gallery on saturday to view Jenny Wickes' exhibition cataloguing, questioning and realigning our opinions of the endangered ginger in an aptly named exhibition called Root Ginger.

It was a strangely alien collection of vibrant orange on stark white walls, but there is a beauty in it, undeniably and to my good friend Sophie who is a profound supporter of the ginger, I salute you.

Hold your breath

Spectacular images by Narelle Autio capturing swimmers in a foamy struggle with the water. The middle one in particular looks like a giant effervescent hand grasping his body. Simply magical.

I've got the whole world in my hands...

You may or may not be familiar with tilt-shift photography, simply put it's a way of taking pictures of real life in a particular way to look like miniature models, and now there's a super simple way to do it, just upload a picture and let the site do the work for you. It's normally a lengthy process playing with blurs, depth of field, colour saturation and focus but with this site it takes seconds, enjoy. Thanks Toby for the link, even if you don't think it's that successful.

Shake it like a Poladroid picture...

Just thought I'd show how the Poladroid sits on your desktop and what the development looks like. Give it a go, it's great fun, there's also a Flickr group you can submit them to afterward.

Shake it like a Poladroid picture...

As of 31st December 2008, the Polaroid will be no more, they will cease production, but worry not there are some new alternatives coming on to the market. However you can create Poladroids for free, FREE!

It's a downloadable application that you drag your photographs on to, hear the polaroid sound and watch them develop on your desktop, you can even shake them to speed up the processing! You can save the images to keep, you can also keep saving them as and when they're developing.

Here are a few of mine, I'm finding this app very distracting while at work, I keep processing polardroids, oops.

Punctuation everywhere

Walking back to the office today I noticed these beautiful parentheses above the windows.
I like the way there are three kinds on one building, enjoy.

Stop! In the name of love.

There's something so lovely about this image, I wonder how many people have smiled at this stoplight. Happy Tuesday everyone.

We have known each other

I have a deep admiration for anyone who can draw well from memory, I am a real life sort of girl, I need the subject matter to be in front of me, these amazing photographs are overlaid with drawings from memory. The effect is a little eerie, but beautiful draughtsmanship all the same.
