Welcome to Bing

Now that Bing has launched, I'd just like to suggest you to try it out. I've been working on something associated with this project for a little while and have been excited to see it up and running.

Although frankly, it doesn't recognise this blog when I search for it... (Google does, top hit)

MTV risqué ads for Skins

MTV Portugal have just made my morning! These daring adverts touch on the explicit nature of the show and I'm still chuckling. Illustrations courtesy of Bruna Guerreiro.

Congratulations to the copywriters too, "Parents can't forbid things they don't know exist. Skins. Don't let them know about this show."

The reason I have a sweet tooth...

It's in my genes of course! Great little Chupa Chups advert by DDB Spain, although it clearly works in any language, found via the appropraitely named Inspire Me Now tumblr

While you're waiting...

My latest read, The Book Thief is with me at all times, it's a great story narrated by Death, no less, anyway I'm taking my sweet time over it, because it's excellent and I don't want it to end.

Interestingly I was in a Post Office queue for 30minutes the other day and it was lovely because I read the whole time. Queuing, so ordered, so British. Why am I uttering this drivel? Oh yes, books are great for swallowing you whole, as this advert neatly shows. The fact it happens to be Penguin is merely a coincidence, although as you know, I love them too.

Cadbury is raising a few eyebrows

Fallon has created some buzz worthy adverts for Cadbury of late and the latest dose of 'a glass and a half full of joy' is eyebrows. In short I never really 'get' these adverts, I don't like them but many, many people do including children. You just know that children up and down the country are going to be practising in playgrounds and giving school photographers hell. A glass and a half full productions are organising JiveBrow '09, enter if you have bouncing brows.

Frustratingly this advert is growing on me, there's just something about those kids' faces. Although I'm suggesting Cadbury change it to 'a glass and a half full of weird', I'm trying to stay neutral and professional but I'd like to draw your attention to Daito Manabe's videos that were featured on Boooooom last October. Spot the difference.

This is no mere advert

I have yet to see this advert on tv, but I have just spotted it over on Scamp's blog and had to post it too. Comparethemarket.com have created a wonderful spoof site to mirror it's own and drive custom back to themselves. However it's win-win for them because if you stay on comparethemeerkat.com you are actually learning how to use it's doppelganger's site too.
10/10 to the copywriters, Aleksandr is a superb character and there are some very clever details woven in to the site too.

Paper capers

Poring over my ABC3D pop up book has given me a new found respect for paper craft, so I started having a look around and came across this advert which I had previously dismissed. I like the Welsh as much as the next person, in fact more so, just ask me to do my Welsh impression the next time I'm in the pub, but the twee Welsh sprogs ruin this clever piece of paper art for me. Don't even get me started on their end line of 'every child has the right to a nicer world', so turn down the volume and enjoy the artwork, isn't it?!

Unbox the box

Did you unwrap any lovely presents at Christmas? I discovered a gift of an advert over Christmas that starts with a cardboard box, it's for the Audi Q5 which ends with the tag line 'we've unboxed the box', and has a catchy little ditty by Woody Guthrie aptly entitled 'Car Song'.

The advert was developed by Bartle Bogle Hegarty London, Executive Creative Director Nick Gill, Creative Directors Kevin Stark and Nick Kidney. I couldn't help but think of the wonderful Saul Steinberg and the example shown above from 1951, it appears BBH may also be fans, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as they say, thanks all the same, great advert!

you SCRABBLE love I

Scrabble is one of my favourite games but my boyfriend will no longer play against me, he has lost the last 6 consecutive battles. I love this campaign for Scrabble, produced by JWT Santiago, it works in any language, which is quite impressive for a game dedicated and dependent upon language and the written word.

Bravo.

Wildlife is disappearing

Clever advert from WWF, I find it strange that they are using other companies to advertise themselves but it is highly effective. More ads here.

Such a clever and simple advert. As seen on I Believe in Advertising.
